We’ve survived week one of the 2025 CS Election unscathed!

It’s a special day – no, it’s not the anniversary of any Star Trek show or movie.
It’s Ryan’s birthday!
Even in the middle of the CS election nomination period, it’s important to remember why any of us want to be a member of STARFLEET in the first place. It’s because of our shared love and passion for Star Trek.
With that – Happy Captain Picard Day, everyone!
And so we’re at the end of the nomination phase, and what have we learnt?

As the IG recently shared, this election is moving into a “Vote of Confidence” phase. With no other tickets submitted, we’ll be the only names on the ballot in August. Members will be asked to vote either For or Against the Case/Sams team stepping into office on January 1, 2026.

Firstly – I want assure everyone that Ryan & I didn’t fall into a temporal loop last week! We just lost track of the fact that the week 5 log was overdue!

I was delighted to be able to join Ryan as we spoke with RC R17 Laurie McFarland at the Meet The Candidates session at IC. It was the first time we’d actually articulated our plans and hopes for the next three years, and it felt both weird and really good to say it all out loud!!

Voting for the CS/VCS election officially began yesterday, September 1st, and I sincerely hope no one is encountering any issues with casting their ballot. If you’ve got any questions, you need but ask and we’ll make sure to get them addressed.

Per the Inspector General’s update, there have been 881 votes made (total not yes, no/abstain), which meets the 20% quorum for the election to be valid.
